Magic Cookie Bars

Magic Cookie Bars

400g of chocolate cookie crumbs, graham cracker crumbs or lemon biscuit crumbs
1/2 cup melted butter
1 package (about 2 cups) chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips or whatever combination of chips you want
1 cup chopped nuts – pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, whatevs
1 cup flaked or shredded coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Spray a 9×13 baking pan lightly with non-stick spray.  In a bowl, combine cookie crumbs with butter.  Press the buttered crumbs firmly into the bottom of the pan (using the bottom of a measuring cup works magically). Then start scattering. Scatter the chips, the nuts and the coconut evenly over the base. Slowly drizzle the whole can of sweetened condensed milk over the bars (warm the can in hot water first for easier pouring), trying to get everything covered, or as close as you can.  Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Allow the bars to cool completely, then run a knife around the outside of the pan and they should just pop out… this will make for easier cutting as well.
